2014/2015 Season

After an uncomfortable trophyless first season back for Jose Mourinho, it was clear The Special One was intent on stopping this barren run and adding to his already sizeable trophy cabinet.

Fortunately for Mourinho’s men, they would make amends with two trophies, securing the Premier League crown with three weeks to spare, with the League Cup crown already in the bag from mid-March. This double was helped by the summer acquisitions of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, with the latter proving to be an instant hit, becoming Chelsea’s top scorer with 21 goals.

The Premier League crown, Mourinho’s third and Chelsea’s fourth, was particularly noteworthy given the Blues were always at the top of the table right after Matchday 1, scoring beautiful goals in the first half of the season before tactically wrapping it up in early May. This was acknowledged with Manager and Player of the Year awards for Mourinho and Hazard respectively.

The League Cup triumph over Tottenham set the tone for a triumphant season, but there would be set-backs both in the FA Cup and Champions League. The former came from a shock drubbing to Bradford City, whilst progress was stopped in the latter competition by an extra-time defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
